INDEPENDENT STRATEGY & LEADERSHIP

Te ira
o te kaha

Sometimes the strength to begin is found in a small moment of clarity, courage or connection. Irakaha supports leaders and organisations to find that starting point and turn ambition into practical action.

02 / ABOUT IRAKAHA

People.
Place.
Purpose.

Small interventions.
Lasting impact.

Ira

The smallest particle.
A gene.

Kaha

Strength.
Determination.

Irakaha exists to support leaders and organisations to find clear direction, strengthen capability and turn ambition into meaningful progress.

Grounded in a Māori worldview, our approach recognises that people, place and purpose are connected. Good decisions care for people, honour connection to place and consider what they leave for future generations.

That means taking time to understand the relationships, responsibilities and aspirations behind the work. Advice should respect the mana of those involved, build confidence and capability, and help organisations create lasting value for the people and communities they serve.

THE SIGNIFICANCE OF OUR NAME

Irakaha brings together ira, referencing the smallest particle or gene, and kaha, strength and determination. It reflects a belief that even the smallest intervention, made with purpose and care, can be the beginning of monumental change, growth and development.

Our byline speaks to the smallest part of our strength: the part we call on when making a change or embarking on something significant. A clear question, a stronger relationship or a moment of courage can be enough to begin.

PURPOSE

Keep the kaupapa in view and consider the outcomes our decisions create for those who come after us.

03 / OUR APPROACH

Straightforward.
Thoughtful. Practical.

You’ll know what we’re working towards, what’s included and what happens next.

  1. 01

    Start with a kōrero.

The first kōrero explores your situation, the people and relationships involved, and what you want to achieve. Together, we identify where support would make the most difference.

  2. 02

    Agree the work.

We set the scope, deliverables, timing and fee before we begin. The engagement should fit your needs and capacity.

  3. 03

    Make progress.

We work through the priorities together, with clear communication, care for the people affected and practical actions that strengthen your ability to carry the work forward.

04 / EXPERIENCE & REFLECTIONS

The work.
The relationships.

Leadership, collaboration and progress, seen through the work and the people involved.

A FEW USEFUL DETAILS

Before we talk.

Do I need a fully formed brief?

No. An initial kōrero can help clarify the problem, the opportunity and the kind of support that would be useful.

How are fees agreed?

Fees are agreed after we have discussed the work. Defined projects and workshops have an agreed scope and fee; ongoing advice has an agreed monthly scope. Any changes are discussed before additional work begins.

Can we work together remotely?

Yes. Irakaha is based in Ōtautahi Christchurch and works with organisations across Aotearoa. In-person sessions and any travel are agreed as part of the engagement.

Can you guarantee funding?

Funding decisions sit with the funder. Irakaha’s role is to help you assess readiness and develop a credible, well-supported proposal, with a realistic view of the opportunity.

05 / LET’S KŌRERO

What are you
working towards?

A kōrero is a good place to start. Share a little about your organisation, the opportunity or challenge, and where support would make a difference.
